In September 2013, the Dutch Embassy in Greec and its partners presented the idea of Orange Grove, flexible workspaces for young entrepreneurs in Athens.
At a time when many young Greeks face the choice of moving abroad to avoid unemployment, the Orange Grove offered young entrepreneurs an opportunity to start a business. So, for those who wanted to stay in Greece or were looking to return from abroad, the Grove seemed like ‘fertile ground.’ The Dutch provided the facilities, equipment and connections with Dutch-Greek partners and businesses. On September 26, Orange Grove Athens celebrated its 1st anniversary. Throughout the first year, the Grove hosted 47 startups and 90 entrepreneurs.
